The National Team starts training

The Azerbaijani chess players expected to participate in the 42nd World Chess Olympiad in Baku are starting preparations for the competition. The President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation (ACF), Elman Rustamov, received the Azerbaijan men’s team today. The meeting discussed the national team’s preparation plans for the Baku Chess Olympiad. ACF President Elman Rustamov said the necessary conditions would be created for the national team to prepare well for the prestigious event. He said the Azerbaijan men’s team had always delighted its fans with impressive victories and results. Elman Rustamov added that great hopes were being pinned on the national team to do well in the Olympiad. 

The Vice President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation and Chief Arbiter of the Baku Chess Olympiad, Faig Hasanov, said after the meeting that the Azerbaijan men’s team comprised of Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Teimour Radjabov, Arkadij Naiditsch, Eltaj Safarli and Rauf Mamedov had left for Gabala to start training for the competition. 

The press service of the Baku Chess Olympiad Operating Committee reports that the Azerbaijan men’s first team would have three training sessions in the time left for the Chess Olympiad. As mentioned, the first one will be held in Gabala, where the national team will train under the guidance of French grandmaster Etienne Bacrot.
