Meeting on Baku Chess Olympiad held

A meeting has been held at the Baku Chess Olympiad Operating Committee to discuss progress of preparations for the event. Attended by First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Chairman of the Baku Chess Olympiad Organizing Committee Yagub Eyyubov, Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov, President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation Elman Rustamov, Vice President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation and Director of the Baku Chess Olympiad Operating Committee Mahir Mammedov, and Vice President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation Faig Hasanov, the meeting focused on issues related to the organization of the prestigious event. 


According to the press service of the Baku Chess Olympiad Operating Committee, the parties reviewed matters related to meeting and accommodating the visitors, decorating the playing hall, medical, security and other issues important to conducting the Baku Chess Olympiad at a high level.

The Baku Chess Olympiad will start on 1 September and finish on 14 September 2016. The venue of the prestigious sporting event, to be held in Azerbaijan for the first time, will be Crystal Hall. A regular FIDE congress will also be held in Baku in the days of the Olympiad.
