NATIONAL CHESS OLYMPIAD ENDS

The National U-16 and Youth Chess Olympiad has finished in Balakan District. The competition was held in groups A and B and brought together 331 chess players representing 43 districts, cities and organizations. The 11-round competition was held at the Balakan Olympic Sport Center.

According to the final standings, the winners of the U-16 competition in Group A were Teymuraz Akhundov (Baku) with 8.5 points (coefficient 79.5) among boys and Aytan Safarova (Neftchala) with 7.5 points (coefficient 69.5) among girls. The winners of the U-14 competition were Elchin Mammadli with 8.0 points (coefficient 77.0) among boys and Sevil Tahirova (Guba) with 7.0 points (coefficient 73.0) among girls. The winners of the U-12 competition in Group B were Farid Malikov (Guba) with 9.5 points (coefficient 85.5) among boys and Nargiz Akhundova (Baku) with 7.5 points (coefficient 78.0) among girls. The winners of the U-10 competition were Agil Israilov (Baku) with 8.5 points (coefficient 84.0) among boys and Leyla Guliyeva (Ganja) with 7.5 points (coefficient 68.0) among girls. The winners of the U-10 competition were Yusif Abbasov (Guba) with 7.5 points (coefficient 74.0) among boys and Gulshan Allahverdiyeva (Ismayilli) with 7.0 points (coefficient 67.0) among girls.

The winners were presented with certificates of merit and awards.
