National team starts second training session

The Azerbaijani chess players expected to take part in the 42nd World Chess Olympiad in Baku continue their preparations. The first team comprising Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Teimour Radjabov, Eltaj Safarli and Rauf Mamedov has left for Gabala to train for 15 days. The press service of the Baku Chess Olympiad reports that the national team will train with French grandmaster Etienne Bacrot in Gabala.

In an interview with the press service of the Baku Chess Olympiad, Etienne Bacrot said, “According to the plan, the second training session will last 15 days. We will work on openings and some complex combinations with the national team. Overall, the spirit in the national team is quite high. There are excellent conditions for training. While in Gabala, chess players can also do sports. The next training session is scheduled for August.”

Talks are currently under way regarding a friendly match for the national team.
