Men’s first team training in Gabala - PHOTOS

Azerbaijani chess players expected to participate in the 42nd World Chess Olympiad in Baku are continuing their training for the competition. The first team comprised of Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Teimour Radjabov, Arkadij Naiditsch, Eltaj Safarli and Rauf Mamedov is undergoing the initial stage of preparations in Gabala.

The press service of the Baku Chess Olympiad Operating Committee reports that the team is training in Gabala under the captaincy of Frencg grandmaster Etienne Bacrot.

Etienne Bacrot has updated the press service of the Baku Chess Olympiad Operating Committee on the progress of the training process. “We are located in a beautiful place. All the necessary conditions are available for effective training. The Azerbaijani team includes some of the world’s best grandmasters. Therefore, there is an excellent understanding among all of us. I am well aware of the importance of the Baku Chess Olympiad for Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijan team has always been among the favorites of all competitions. Noted for a very strong level of its players, the team has done well in European championships. In the 42nd World Chess Olympiad, too, the Azerbaijan team will do its best to delight its fans.”

The Azerbaijan men’s team will conduct three training sessions in the time left for the World Chess Olympiad. There are also plans to play a friendly match with a foreign team.
