Operation Committee visited Gymnastics Arena

The preparations for the opening ceremony of the 42nd World Chess Olympiad scheduled for September in Baku are underway. According to the press service of the Baku Chess Olympiad Operating Committee, the organizers are currently visiting the possible venues in the capitalcity in order to choose the best opeion for the Olympiad’s opening ceremony. For this purpose, Mr. Mahir Mammedov, the director of theOperating Committeemembers of FIDE, as well as “Amapola” representatives have visited the National Gymnastics Arena, one of the best sport facilities in Europe. The overall setting established in the arena has been highly appreciated. It was noted that the arena has all the conditions necessary for organizing the opening ceremony.

Mr. Mammedov said that “The Arena is up to the highest standards. This sport facility has been built with a fine taste and design. The opening ceremony of the Chess Olympiad can be organized in this venue on the highest level. The Arena has been equipped with all the technical facilities as well. In the coming days, the final decision will be announced. It is highly possible that the opening ceremony will be held in the National Gymnastics Arena.”

To note, the design of the 9,000-seat National Gymnastics Arena enables to show the multifunctional nature of the venue. Depending on the scope and nature of the events, the number of seats can be increased from 5,000 to 9,000. The seats used in open and closed areas have been specially designed. The Arena constructed with special technology is among the best sports facilities of Europe.
